The Surveyor in the construction industry is responsible for conducting detailed land and site surveys, providing accurate measurements and data to support the design, planning, and construction processes. The Surveyor ensures that construction projects are built according to design specifications and legal requirements, and they play a key role in the successful and accurate execution of construction works.
Job Description:
- Conduct topographical surveys, site layout surveys, and boundary surveys to gather essential data for construction projects.
- Use surveying instruments such as total stations, theodolites, GPS, and drones to measure land features and positions.
- Mark out the locations of structures, roads, utilities, and other elements according to design plans.
- Ensure that construction works are executed at the correct locations and levels.
- Conduct regular site checks to ensure construction aligns with design specifications.
- Re-survey and adjust measurements as necessary to maintain project accuracy.
- Record and manage all survey data and documentation, ensuring accuracy and accessibility.
- Prepare detailed survey reports and maps for use by engineers, architects, and project managers.
- Conduct legal boundary surveys to establish property lines and resolve disputes.
- Prepare and submit legal documents such as easements and land title reports.
- Work closely with architects, engineers, contractors, and other construction professionals to ensure survey data is correctly interpreted and applied.Communicate effectively with the project team to provide updates on progress and any issues encountered.
- Ensure all surveying activities comply with safety regulations and best practices.
- Conduct risk assessments related to surveying tasks and implement safety measures.
- Maintain and calibrate surveying instruments to ensure accurate and reliable measurements.
- Keep up-to-date with the latest surveying technology and techniques.
- Provide guidance and training to junior surveyors and site staff.
- Share knowledge and industry developments with the team.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Surveying, Geomatics, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience: 10 to 12 years of experience in land surveying or construction surveying.
- Expertise in using surveying instruments such as total stations, theodolites, GPS, and laser scanners.
