A PG Hostel Has to Support
Work, Not Just Sleep.

Postgraduate and research-scholar accommodation has a different living pattern than undergraduate hostels. Residents are often in their rooms for extended hours through the day — reading, writing, preparing for research milestones — not just returning at night between classes. That shifts the building's actual requirements, even when the structural scope on paper looks identical to any other hostel.

Dhinwa's scope on the PG Hostel was planning, civil construction, and structural RCC — the same contractor model applied across Jaipur National University's institutional projects, with the university's own teams handling interior finishing and fit-out. The structural discipline does not vary by resident type, but the building's internal layout logic does.

At 1,00,000 sq. ft., the building was sized to house a genuine postgraduate population at the scale a research-focused university programme requires.

Lower Density, Longer Dwell Time
PG and research-scholar accommodation typically carries a different occupancy density than undergraduate hostels — fewer residents per floor area, but those residents spend considerably more daytime hours in their rooms. The structural and spatial planning accounts for this different usage pattern from the outset.
Structural Discipline, Unchanged by Resident Type
Whatever the occupancy pattern, the structural execution standard does not change — the same floor-by-floor cube testing and documentation sign-off applied on every Dhinwa institutional project governed this build as well.
Contractor Model — Structure First, Finishing Separate
As with the university's other hostel and clinical buildings, Dhinwa's accountability here was the structural frame, handed over for the university's own teams to complete interior fit-out and finishing.
Built Within an Active University Campus
Construction logistics were planned around the university's existing operations — site access, material movement, and scheduling coordinated to avoid disrupting ongoing academic activity on a live campus.
