Maternity Block

Jaipur National University · Jaipur

A dedicated maternity care facility built for Jaipur National University — a clinical building where structural precision carries different weight than in any other building type, because the people inside it are at their most vulnerable. Civil and structural execution delivered to support a fully functioning maternity ward.

The Project

A Maternity Ward Cannot Tolerate
a Structural Compromise.

Of every clinical building type, a maternity block carries some of the lowest tolerance for error. Labour rooms, recovery wards, and newborn care areas all depend on a structure that performs without exception — because the people inside are mothers and infants at their most physically vulnerable moment, not patients who can absorb a building's shortcomings the way a healthier population might.

Dhinwa's scope on this project was planning, civil construction, and structural RCC — the same contractor-model commitment applied on the Boys Hostel project for Jaipur National University, where the university's own MEP and clinical fit-out teams completed the rest. The discipline does not change because the building type does; it intensifies.

At 1,00,000 sq. ft., the building was sized for a genuine maternity care facility — labour and delivery areas, recovery wards, and newborn care space built to function as a complete clinical unit, not a scaled-down annex attached to a larger hospital.

Scope of Work

Three Disciplines.
A Shell Built for Zero Margin of Error.

A focused civil and structural commitment — the same contractor model used across Dhinwa's institutional projects, applied here to a building with the least room for error.

01
Planning
Programme sequencing established with clinical handover requirements in mind, so the structure is ready for MEP and fit-out teams without rework.
02
Civil Construction
Foundation and civil works executed to support a clinical-grade structure, with tolerances held tighter than a standard institutional build.
03
Structural RCC
In-house RCC execution with cube-testing at 7, 14, and 28 days, and documentation sign-off before any floor advances — applied with added scrutiny given the building's clinical purpose.
Why This Building Demanded More

Building for the Most Vulnerable
Occupants in Any Healthcare Facility.

A maternity block sits at the intersection of structural and clinical risk in a way few other building types do.

Clinical building structural execution
Clinical-Grade Structure
Tighter Tolerances Near Labour & Recovery Wards
Structural detailing around labour rooms, delivery suites, and post-natal recovery wards is held to a stricter standard than general clinical space — floor flatness, wall finishes, and slab tolerances calibrated for environments where precision directly affects patient and newborn safety.
A Shell That Has to Serve Sensitive MEP Without Rework
Maternity and newborn care areas carry specific MEP requirements — climate control for newborn units, clean electrical circuits, careful plumbing routing — that the university's own teams installed after handover. Dhinwa's structural shell was built to accommodate that fit-out without requiring structural changes once specialist teams arrived.
Documentation Discipline, Applied With Added Scrutiny
The same cube-testing and sign-off system used on every Dhinwa structural project was applied here with heightened attention — because a clinical handover for a maternity facility leaves far less room for a "we'll fix it later" approach than a standard institutional building.
Built Within an Active University Healthcare Campus
As part of the broader Jaipur National University healthcare infrastructure, construction logistics were planned to avoid disrupting other clinical and academic operations already running on campus.

Planning a Maternity Block or
Clinical Healthcare Facility?

This project reflects the same systems Dhinwa applies to every healthcare build — structural precision held to clinical standards, and a shell built to accommodate sensitive MEP and fit-out without rework once specialist teams arrive.
