The BBS Engineer is responsible for preparing and managing the Bar Bending Schedule (BBS) for reinforced concrete structures. This role involves translating structural drawings into detailed schedules, ensuring accurate quantities, and coordinating with site teams to ensure the correct placement of reinforcement bars. The BBS Engineer plays a critical role in maintaining the structural integrity of the project by ensuring precise execution of reinforcement work

Job Description:

  • BBS Preparation: Prepare detailed Bar Bending Schedules based on structural drawings and design specifications, ensuring accuracy in quantities, sizes, and bending details.
  • Drawing Interpretation: Accurately interpret structural drawings and blueprints to determine the required reinforcement details.
  • Coordination with Site Teams: Work closely with site engineers, supervisors, and contractors to ensure that reinforcement bars are cut, bent, and placed according to the BBS.
  • Material Management: Estimate and manage the quantity of reinforcement steel required for the project, coordinating with procurement teams to ensure timely availability of materials.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure that all reinforcement work adheres to the quality standards, design specifications, and industry norms.
  • Compliance & Documentation: Ensure compliance with project specifications and relevant codes and standards. Maintain detailed documentation of BBS and related activities for quality control and audit purposes.
  • Site Visits & Inspections: Conduct regular site visits to inspect the placement of reinforcement bars, verify compliance with the BBS, and address any discrepancies or issues that arise.
  • Reporting: Prepare and submit regular reports on BBS progress, material usage, and any deviations from the design.
  • Problem-Solving: Identify and resolve any issues related to reinforcement detailing or placement that could affect the structural integrity of the project.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience: 5 years of experience in preparing Bar Bending Schedules and working with reinforcement detailing in construction projects.
