Job Brief:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive safety policies, procedures, and programs to ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety regulations and standards.
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits of construction sites, equipment, and work practices to identify potential hazards, unsafe conditions, and non-compliance issues.
  • Evaluate and assess risks associated with construction activities, machinery, and materials, and develop strategies and controls to mitigate risks and prevent accidents and injuries.
  • Provide safety training and education to all employees and subcontractors, including new hires and ongoing refresher training, to promote awareness and understanding of safety protocols and procedures.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses to determine root causes and contributing factors, and implement corrective actions and preventive measures to avoid recurrence.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of safety inspections, training sessions, incident reports, and other safety-related documentation, ensuring compliance with record-keeping requirements.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to integrate safety considerations into project planning and execution, and to address safety-related issues and concerns.
  • Liaise with regulatory agencies, safety organizations, and industry groups to stay informed of changes in safety regulations, best practices, and emerging trends, and to ensure ongoing compliance with safety requirements.
  • Monitor and track safety performance metrics and indicators, analyzing trends and patterns to identify areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate with a minimum of 7 years experience in the construction industry. OSHA/CSP certification would be an added advantage.
  • Thorough knowledge of health and safety regulations, standards, and best practices, with a strong understanding of construction safety principles and methodologies.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire teams to achieve safety objectives and goals.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate safety requirements and expectations to all levels of the organization.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and the ability to make sound decisions under pressure to address safety-related issues and challenges.
  • Proficiency in safety management systems, incident investigation techniques, and Microsoft Office suite.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a proactive approach to promoting a safety culture and ensuring compliance with safety requirements.
  • Knowledge of construction practices, processes, and equipment, with a focus on identifying and mitigating safety risks and hazards.
